Give to Give Back

“Give to the fund that gives back to you.” This is the advice Betinna from Illinois gives to fellow co-workers when asked about donating to the Hug Fund. A mother of four and grandmother of one, Betinna knows from experience just how important it is to pay it forward, as recently she called upon the Hug Fund for assistance.

9719404054_3c5173fd51_bIt was a quiet Sunday afternoon in June when a truck suddenly caught a power line that caused a utility pole to fall on Betinna’s house. In addition to some damage to the house, she and her family had no electricity and were forced to rely on a generator. A typical Sunday for Betinna and her children would include the enjoyment of singing songs, but this particular Sunday resulted in singing the blues of a different kind.
After spending several days at a hotel and waiting to receive a response from her local power company, Betinna realized she had to take matters into her own hands. She was advised by her Human Resources Designee to call the Hug Fund for help. Betinna never thought to call the Hug Fund. But after she was approved, she said it’s comforting to know the Hug Fund is there to help if an unexpected event occurs. Betinna also recommends the fund to others if faced with a catastrophic situation.
Betinna’s case shows that you never know what kind of accident can occur to you or your loved ones. This is why the Hug Fund exists.
